Background & Lineage Orrin Ezralow was born in Los Angeles, California, and received the Buddhist name Devagoni-PadmaPani. At the age of seven, he began studying BuddhaDharma with Venerable Subhadra “Kinsui” Goldwater, from whom he later received transmission and recognition as Dharma heir. Early exposure to the Dao De Jing, Daoist philosophy, and Indigenous healing traditions through time spent with Navajo healers shaped his lifelong commitment to direct experience, inner cultivation, healing, and the search for what is real. Seeking a practical way to embody the Dharma in daily life, he trained in vascular and lymphatic massage, Jin Shin Do acupressure, Shiatsu, acupuncture, and Traditional Chinese Medicine. After apprenticing with Dr. Ou Ching Chun and completing studies at the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco, he was licensed to practise acupuncture in 1985. He then spent fifteen years living and practising in Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Japan, while continuing his private study with senior masters. For more than four decades, Orrin has treated patients and taught students in California, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Italy, Austria, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. His work has included private and hospital practice, partnership in an integrated medical clinic, counselling, and teaching. His clinical approach understands body, breath, consciousness, energy, and heart-mind as interdependent aspects of the whole person. Alongside his medical training, he studied Nei Gong, Qi Gong, and Buddhist and Daoist meditation with many teachers, principally Ken Cohen, Mantak Chia, Yóu Péngxī, and Qing Zhong Bao. Under Qing Zhong Bao, he trained in Lan Shou and its related Qi Gong tradition, joining its eighth-generation lineage. Since 2018, Orrin has led the Heart Mind Rainbow Path Sangha, an online community of former patients and students who meet regularly for practice, study, and discourse. Xin Yi Zhong Dao — Heart-Mind Middle Path — has grown from this lifetime of study, practice, clinical experience, relationships with teachers and students, and the continuing effort to live in closer harmony with reality as it is.
